My StoryNow, this is the story all about how my life got flipped upside down; I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, and I’ll tell you how I came to be in this here wheelchair. On Father’s Day, June 20th 2004, I was on my way to a Florida beach with a friend and his mom in their Mitsubishi Eclipse, for some fun in the sun. We were driving on a two lane highway in southern Alabama when a truck on the opposite side of the road attempted to pass the car in front of it. The truck didn’t see us on the other side of the vehicle and hit us head on. Thankfully, no one else was seriously injured, but, I on the other hand was practically cut in half, by the lap belt with no airbags to soften the blow. The car was totaled and since it was a two door car, they had some trouble getting me out. While I was sitting in the car, I could barely breathe and in a terrible amount of pain, everything started to go white, until I couldn’t see anything. I told the Lord if it was His will that I was ready to go. They got me out of the car and put me on a stretcher and I heard a lady say “we might have lost this one” and they loaded me into the ambulance. That’s when I regained my sight and full consciousness. I had numerous surgeries to repair my broken back and remove my damaged organs. When it was all said and done, they had removed 60% of my bowels, fused my spine together with a rod from L3 to L5 and my spinal cord had been severed. The doctors told me and my family I would never walk again. Almost five years later, I’m so thankful for all the surgeries, months in the hospital and pain the Lord has brought me through and all He has taught me spiritually, but I don’t believe He’s done yet. While I may still be in a wheelchair, God has given me, in addition, to several other people, dreams and words of me standing and walking again. This would allow me to share my testimony with others through the miracles in my life. I believe what the devil tried to use to destroy me, God will use for His glory.
